How do people keep crashing these?

Just got some seat time in this 2015 Mustang GT 5.0. Traction control off, sport mode, and it’s raining out. Hell yes. The slightest throttle application would kick the side out, but the long wheelbase makes it infinitely easier to control than, say, my Miata. The noise it makes is pretty good, but not as good as the Camaro SS. The Mustang is far better looking, though. Ford hit the styling out of the park on this, though the fitment of most of the body panels is tragically bad.

Also it has built in line locks . And that’s awesome.

I completely agree on the styling. I was blown away by the first one I saw in person.

Built in line-locks which may or may not void your warranty.

From the videos I've seen, I think people keep shifting while doing a burnout. Massive torque + throttle application removed then reapplied = catastrophe

If i was to say something. Your independentrs also makes your job easier. Have you driven 05 mustangs in the rain, gad you could go coasting on a turn and if theres a bump, you WILL slide your tail.

Point of order: Solid axles on *A Mustang* suck.

Because that is perfectly controllable on a long wheelbase crew cab pickup.

For a lot of Mustang owners, especially the younger crowd, this is probably their first powerful car...if not their first RWD car. As you can expect, inexperience + money to afford ANY POWERFUL RWD VEHICLE = crashfest.

Notice how I said “ANY POWERFUL RWD VEHICLE” there? This isn’t just a Mustang exclusive, any greenhorn idiot can buy 300+ hp of RWD car as their first car. Some S2ks, Supras, Camaros, Firebirds, M3s, 240SXs, etc can, will, and are owned by people who could’ve also bought a Mustang as their first car/first powerful car/first rwd car and then stuff their into whatever/whoever is unlucky to be in front of them.

By the way, a lot of those owners likely grew up admiring street racing, watched the first The Fast and the Furious movie, played NFS/GTA/GT/etc, never done an autocross/trackday/high-performance driving education, and whatever combination of those variables and more. They just want to drive fast because it’s cool.

Then there’s also the stereotypical mentality behind owning a sporty/expensive car is to show it off by revving, burnouts, sudden 0-60 pulls, blast the stereo, etc. Combine that with a need for attention and Cars and Coffee is a prime location for stupidity to happen.

That said, I’ve daily-driven my pop’s ‘08 GT along with doing 600+ miles of traveling in a day driving it from Youngstown, OH back to Columbia, SC...half of which was in the rain/snow in the cold mountains on Christmas Eve. I respect the performance of his car and its capability to go fast...into a tree/person/car/etc and therefore, I know better than to be an idiot and pull shenanigans with it that I’ve gotten away with in the Miata. If you treat your car well, then it’ll likely treat you back in an equal manner.

Sorry for the rant, I haven’t had my nightly coffee just yet.

I owned one for 3 1/2 years and 73,000 miles, I mean, it was a V6, but still, 305hp, and to this day, I have no idea how that keeps happening. My insurance companies must have figured it was bound to happen any day though, based on the financial ass raping they both gave me.
